WE ARE is an award-winning contemporary musical feature film written and directed by Academy Nicholl Fellowship winner and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Timothy Ware-Hill.
Set against the cultural and historical landscape of Alabama, WE ARE is a contemporary musical about identity, family, love, and the complicated inheritance of the American South. Through music, poetry, and an unforgettable community of characters, the story follows Coffee as he confronts his past and searches for the courage to define who he is—and where he belongs.
On November 2, 2026, in New York City, we will present an industry staged reading of WE ARE, bringing together Broadway artists and special guest talent for an invitation-only audience of film, theatre, and entertainment industry professionals.
This reading is an important next step in the journey toward bringing WE ARE to the screen. Our goal is to use the presentation to introduce the project to prospective investors, producing partners, creative collaborators, and talent as we move toward financing and production of the feature film.
